Terugblik expositie 2015


Er deden verschillende kunstenaars mee uit binnen- en buitenland. Twee jaar lang is met passie en aandacht werk geselecteerd. 'We hebben gemerkt dat deze vorm van kunst in de reguliere kunstwereld met veel argwaan wordt bekeken. Ik zie tijdens mijn rondgang langs ateliers van zorginstellingen dat daar fantastische kunst wordt gemaakt. De meest aansprekende werken laten we zien op de expositie. Maar de kunstwereld gelooft niet dat het bij die werken gaat om kwalitatief goede kunst. Daarom is het goed dat de Art Brut Biënnale er is.' Elvira van Eijl, curator.


Er werden werken geëxposeerd uit o.a. uit de volgende landen.

Donald Pass

Donald Pass's work is represented in museums in Britain, Eastern Europe and The American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore. In 1999 he won the prestigious 'Art of the Imagination' Award at the Mall Galleries in London. His Resurrection paintings were featured in the "Golden Blessings" show at the American Visionary Art Museum and again more recently in a one-man show in 2013.

Mehrdad Rashidi

The Iranian self-taught artist Mehrdad Rashidi was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix for Marginal Art at the 16th Biennial of Naïve & Marginal Art, in Belgrade 2013. His work is represented in the Collection de l'Art Brut, and The Museum of Everything, London, and The American Folk Art Museum in New York.

Rosary Carson

Self-taught British artist, diagnosed at a young age with schizophrenia, her work has been shown in many exhibitions related to

Art & Mental Illness and has been featured in a number of articles that discuss this subject in prominent psychiatric journals.

 

Most of the oil paintings displayed were executed at the Banstead Asylum in the 1990's during an psychotic episode she experienced during that period.
